Your President Elect (Barak Obama) has done one good thing so far. No joke. He did something good.
“If you’ve got a bunch of teams who play throughout the season, and many of them have one loss or two losses, there’s no clear decisive winner,” he told Steve Kroft. “We should be creating a playoff system.”
He even got into specifics: “Eight teams. That would be three rounds to determine a national champion. It would add three extra weeks to the season. You could trim back on the regular season. I don’t know any serious fan of college football who has disagreed with me on this. So, I’m going to throw my weight around a little bit. I think it’s the right thing to do.”
Caleb and I had that exact conversation before I left for my great vacation in Peru, all the way down to the number of weeks and amount of time it would take. Oh well. Check it out!

Actually, he’s done more than one “good thing.” He’s “procrastinating” on closing Gitmo. He won’t be pulling troops out of Iraq ASAP, and when he does, they’ll be going to Afghanistan, not home. The question now is, what would have been the difference if McCain had gotten elected? The answer is, “probably not a whole lot” because Republicans of late (since Reagan maybe? this includes Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.) don’t seem to understand that some of us want actual, true conservatism and LESS government and that “leaning left” and trying to please everyone just means that both sides will hate you. Just google “Bush spending.”
